Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal is based on selective photothermal action, targeting melanin, which absorbs light energy and increases its temperature, thus destroying hair follicles and achieving hair removal and inhibiting hair growth.

Laser is more effective on hairs with thicker diameter, darker color and greater contrast with normal skin color next to it, so it is more effective in removing hairs in these areas.

●Smaller areas: such as underarms, bikini area

●Larger areas: such as arms, legs, and breasts

During the regression and resting periods, the hair follicles are in a state of atrophy, with little melanin content, absorbing very little laser energy. During the anagen phase, the hair follicles are back in the growth phase and are most sensitive to laser treatment, so laser hair removal is more effective for hair follicles in the anagen phase.

At the same time, the hair is not synchronized growth, for example, the same part of the ten million hairs, some in the anagen phase, some in the degenerative or resting phase, so in order to achieve a more comprehensive treatment effect, it is necessary to carry out multiple treatments.

In addition, even hair follicles in the anagen phase are usually more tenacious and need to be blasted with the laser several times to get better hair removal results.

This treatment process mentioned above usually takes 4-6 sessions over a period of six months. If you start the treatment in January or February in the spring, you will have achieved a better result by June or July in the summer.

By permanent hair removal, we mean a long-term stable reduction in the number of hairs, rather than a complete cessation of hair growth. At the end of the session, most of the hairs in the treated area will fall out, leaving behind fine hairs, but these are of little consequence and are already considered to have achieved the desired laser hair removal results.
